About the Program
The only thing better than reading a good book is reading a good book and then talking about it with fellow book lovers. Our book clubs offer you the opportunity to do just that. We have clubs for those who’d like to discuss a single book in depth with others who have read it, and another club for those who want to share everything they’ve been reading recently with other readers.
Bent Corners Book Club
Every month, our Bent Corners book club reads a preselected book and then meet to discuss it. At the meetings, the Adult Services Librarian guides the discussion with prepared questions and points of interest, but discussion is certainly not limited to what’s been planned. Attendees are encouraged to bring up their own desired topics for the group to talk about, and we like to keep it loose and let the conversation flow naturally. While you’re welcome to check out and read book club selections without attending the meetings, it’s so much more fun to meet and discuss the books!
The book club reads primarily fiction titles, but we change things up with a non-fiction title from time to time. We offer both morning and evening meeting times to accommodate those who may only be free at certain times of day.
Who They’re For
Bent Corners is for readers ages 18 and over. Younger readers are welcome, but please be advised that the content of some of the books we read and discuss may not be entirely appropriate for kids.
When They’re Held
Bent Corners meets on the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 PM.
More Information
Every month, some copies of each book club book selection will be available for checkout at the library. To get your copy, visit the circulation desk and ask for the current book club book. Unfortunately, sometimes demand for and availability of certain titles will prohibit the library from obtaining enough copies for every book clubber.
The Benbrook Public Library is a special purpose district that provides free services to all residents living within the Benbrook city boundaries, as well as non-residents.
